Your adventure begins with an early morning drive from Arusha or Moshi to Londorossi Gate, where you will complete your registration formalities with Kilimanjaro National Park authorities. After meeting your mountain team (guides, porters, and cook), you’ll begin your trek through lush montane rainforest. The trail is gentle and quiet, allowing you to spot colobus monkeys, birds, and incredible flora.
You’ll arrive at Mti Mkubwa Camp (2,650m) in the late afternoon. After settling into your tent, enjoy a warm dinner prepared by your mountain chef and a briefing for the next day.

Today the trail climbs steadily out of the rainforest and into the heather and moorland zone. As you ascend, you’ll be rewarded with spectacular views of the Shira Plateau and Mount Meru in the distance.
This is a day of altitude gain as you reach Shira 2 Camp (3,840m). The air gets cooler, and the landscape opens up dramatically. After a hearty dinner, your guide will brief you on acclimatization tips and tomorrow’s challenge.

This is an acclimatization day and one of the most scenic stretches on the mountain. You’ll ascend to the Lava Tower (4,630m), where you’ll have lunch and enjoy breathtaking views. From there, you’ll descend to Barranco Camp (3,976m), passing through the surreal Senecio Forest, giant groundsels and lobelias dominate this otherworldly landscape.
The descent helps your body adapt to the altitude, an important step toward a successful summit.

Get ready for a thrilling climb over the Barranco Wall, a steep but fun scramble that rewards you with panoramic views of the valley below. The trail then traverses alpine desert terrain toward Barafu Camp (4,673m), your base camp for the summit push.
After an early dinner, rest well summit night starts shortly after midnight.
Overnight: Barafu Camp

This is the most challenging but unforgettable day. Around midnight, you’ll begin your summit push under the starlit African sky. The climb to Stella Point (5,739m) is tough, but your guides will encourage and support you every step of the way. From Stella Point, you continue to Uhuru Peak (5,895m), the highest point in Africa.
After celebrating your victory with breathtaking sunrise views, you’ll descend back to Barafu Camp for a short rest, then continue down to Mweka Gate, where your transfer vehicle will be waiting to take you back to Arusha or Moshi.
